LATELY

by Victoria Delloro

Lately, I have changed my point of view.

I am currently having some thoughts that evolves around self realization. Not in the sense in which it is usually referred to, however, not completely different. People have a way of being flattered by stories that drafts the “utopia” of life. This has made me realize that no matter how hard I try, I will never be satisfied. Even though the word “settling” is both positive and negative, people that choose to settle, will in a modern society be able to find peace more easily than a person that stays ambiguous. When striving towards endless happiness, wealth and greatness, one can not find anything else but disappointment. Based on some lovely feelings and thoughts running through my body, I know by my self that even though a lot of people find temporary happiness within achievement, wealth and accomplishment, I am to some extent able to create my own sources happiness as I perceive it. Snapping a photo, running in the nature, a glimpse of  a squirrel… Well, as you may think those examples were shallow and cliché, it wont be when you realize that that were examples put in a larger perspective. Love is free, laughing is free, breathing is free, waving is free, whispering is free. The list could go on and on, but as humans we do not necessarily need to address a lot more than peace, harmony and increased happiness through the simple and kind ways.

I wonder how many people are better to others than one-self. I guess I am one of those who spend more time trying to satisfy and please others, whilst forgetting my own body, soul and mind. Either way, after reading through this I confirm my idea based on my subjective opinion that “harvesting happiness is not for free”, and it starts within us. Either way, why bother looking around and aboutst for something that´s within you?
